I suddenly discovered that I'm more invested in the plot and character development of Ashes to Ashes that that of Doctor Who. Maybe it's because in A2A, it's the grand finale, second-to-last episode just aired, and it is brilliant. And I've waited for tonight's episode of DW but god bloody spoiled too much and not that interested now.
Really, I want to know what Gene Hunt is and what happened to Sam Tyler and how it ends for Alex, I can't wait till next week - but I'm afraid that they will lose it in the last episode. This tension, this energy of the mystery... Well, they did well in Life on Mars (except for that scene after the jump, I still think the jump was the best place to end on though I adore Annie/Sam) but will it go that well for A2A?

Unrelated: sometimes I have a feeling that I watch two tv-shows, one filmed in the UK and the other in US, because I'm in the phase where you know the faces of all guest stars and actors in background roles and know the names of many of them. Really. The one person I keep seeing way too often is Yellow-Eyed Demon from Supernatural; I always think there are be the Winchester brothers somewhere nearby.

Speaking of Supernatural, I can't but remember RTD's famous recommendation for Torchwood fangirls dissappointed by CoE. Oh, the irony!
Also, I haven't seen it yet but judging from the spoilers, the God in this universe is a nerd writing cheap horror novels and sleeping with a slash fan. Really. Self-insertion much, Eric Kripke?

I've loved this series of A2A, and last night's was wonderful. But i'm sort of dreading next week's show. I mean, Tony Jordan has promised that there'll be an explanation, and that all our questions will be answered, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be an explanation that i like. If it seems too silly or out there, i'm worried that it'll ruin my enjoyment of the whole show. Part of me would rather they left it ambiguous, so we could fill in the blanks ourselves.

Yup, same here.
I was dissappointed by the ending of LoM because I (as well as John Simm and one of the creators) thought that the jump was much better, leaving the viewer to wonder whether Sam got back to 70th or just died.
But there were a lot of questions then - 'dead, in coma or back in time' still not quite answered. Now, they promise to tell everything, and I'm not sure whether I want to know everything.
Though the last episode was brilliant, and the whole succession of S3 was pretty good. (I watched the first 2 series in a row, and I thought they were a bit weaker than LoM though they eventually gained monumentum. But S3 keeps my attention every week.) Now, I can't wait till the next week, and yet, want it to never come because the charm of the series is in its mystery, and this mystery can become a cheap riddle too easy.

There's a character listed for next week's show as new arrival and part of me hopes it might just be Sam, but i'm not holding my breath as i think that would probably have leaked.

I would love it to be Simm!Sam, but I doubt they could keep it in secret for so long. Things like this always leak. Though the shadow in the trailer looks a lot like Simm. (I've just spen half an hour staring at the clips and pictures.) It would be surely great if Sam came back in the last episode, against all the odds (the creators saying no to all the rumours, and John Simm saying that he's finished with this character).
